PSG has supplied, installed and commissioned three successful turnkey projects of 33 kV substations.
First two projects are executed for M/s Abul Khair Steels Products Ltd., Bangladesh and the other one for M/s R.M. Cold Rolled Mill Ltd., Bangladesh .
PSG has installed wind farms on turnkey basis for Karnataka and Tamil Nadu (Indian state governments), starting from project feasibility study upto the operation and maintenance.
Through innovative engineering, excellent manufacturing and careful selection of equipment, each switchyard installation is made as to meet the customer satisfaction and requirements.
Water, one of the prime source of energy is being used for power generation. The reasons for Micro/Mini & Small Hydel Projects are,
| | Pollution Free/Environment Friendly | | Can be realised even on Canal Drops, Dam's & River falls |
| | Renevable Energy Source | | Remote Operation |
| | Low Initial Cost | | Low Operation Cost |
KEC has successfully installed two wind farms, one at Gudimangalam, Coimbatore (3 X 400 kW) and another at Hargapur, Belgaum ( 5 X 400 kW). KEC has a technology license from Wind Energy Group Ltd. (WEG), UK
In todayˇs scenario of acute energy crisis, Grid connected Wind turbine, has emerged as a mature and proven technology for cost effective and eco-friendly power generation. The kinetic energy of the wind is captured by the rotor of the wind turbine and converted to electric energy.
The advantages of wind turbines are:
| | Wind - A free everlasting resource |
| | Pollution free( Environment friendly) |
| | Long life time of 20 years with nominal operation and maintenance costs |
|
| | Modular power plant in multiples of 400 kW, to suit in stages investment plans |
The Turbine is specially designed for HIGH ENERGY CAPTURE at low wind speeds, prevalent in India .
Special Features:
| | Large rotor diameter will enhance energy generation |
| | Better regulation and higher generation is achieved by optimizing the pitch angle and minimizing the effect of the local air density |
| | The blades of the wind generator are mounted on a ˇTeeterˇ hub, which is hinged to the Low Speed Shaft (LSS) of the gearbox. |
| | Generator in wind turbines import power and run as a motor during temporary low wind speeds and start-up. A one way clutch is provided to minimize such import of power and maximize the net energy generation. |
Safety Systems:
| | Torque Limiter : In case of excessive torque from the generator, a torque limiter slips to protect the generator. |
| | Aerodynamic braking system : Pitching to ˇfeatherˇ( ie. 90 deg. to the direction of wind ) acts as brake in the event of wind gusts, faults and grid failure reducing the stresses and brake wear. |
| | Mechanical Brake : It comprises of spring applied and hydraulically released brake system for fail safe braking for parking and emergency shutdown. |
| | Horizontal Parking : The 2 blade rotor is ˇparkedˇ in feathered pitch which reduces stresses on the blades and hub, as well as the over-turning moments on the tower and foundation, especially during storms and gusts. |
| | Over Speed : Independent speed sensors on low and high speed shafts are provided to avoid any accidental over-speed. |
| | Fail - Safe Yaw : A special hydraulic circuit ensures controlled yawing speed under a wide range of wind speed and pressure on the rotor and nacelle. |
| | General Safety : The gearbox, generator and other drive train parts of wind turbine are housed in a FRP cladding made of fire-retardent resin. |
